June 5th is World Environment Day , a day to encourage and inspire people to be more mindful of our planet. For many years, we have witnessed how the exploitation and destruction of various ecosystems have significantly damaged and altered nature. Fifty percent of our coral reefs have already been lost, and it is estimated that up to 90% could disappear by 2050. (Fun fact: It is estimated that 25% of all marine life depends on coral reefs at some point in its life cycle.) Since the textile industry is largely responsible for this deterioration, I will now tell you everything you need to know about zero-waste fashion.
World Environment Day focuses on three principles: “Reimagine, Recreate, Restore.” We seek to restore the ecosystem and reverse the damage that has been done over so long. We aim to achieve healthy ecosystems to counteract the harm that has been done, such as climate change.

WHY ARE ECOSYSTEMS SO IMPORTANT?
Ecosystems are practically the lungs of our planet; they are what keeps it alive. A healthy ecosystem includes all living beings and their interactions with each other and with their environment in a given place.
The survival of species and the health of the ecosystem depend on these interdependent relationships. Ecosystem conservation is linked to maintaining its physical conditions, such as water quantity, temperature, light, salinity, etc.

10 WAYS TO HELP REVERSE THE DAMAGE
- Find out about the different ways you can help in your community.
- Be mindful of the products we consume, where they come from, and what their philosophy is.
- Are you looking for brands that are environmentally conscious and seek to generate a positive impact?
- Spread the word about what's happening, encourage others to join this cause.
- Be mindful of the water you use; turn off the tap properly when you're not using it.
- Avoid leaving appliances plugged in; even when they are turned off, they still consume energy.
- Consume organic products; these aim to protect the environment because their production does not use fertilizers or other polluting products.
- Use products that can be recycled, such as bags for going to the supermarket, forget about plastic bottles and use reusable bottles, such as aluminum ones.
- Reuse, repurpose, and recycle.
- Look for brands that are conscious and have a positive impact on the environment. Look for brands with a philosophy and brand values that support and contribute to nature.
WHAT IS ZERO WASTE FASHION?
The environmental crisis and today's consumers are demanding that the fashion industry change; that consumption become smarter and more efficient. The zero-waste fashion movement, fortunately here to stay, brings with it the philosophy of conserving and making the most of all the resources used in production and consumption. It encourages individuals and companies to adopt a more ethical, responsible, and conscious approach.
The Zero Waste technique consists of creating garments while generating the least amount of fabric waste possible. This can be achieved by designing patterns that make the most of the fabric, or by using leftover fabric to create new garments.

WHAT IS UPCYCLING?
It's a recent term used to describe or encompass techniques that involve transforming waste or scrap into new, valuable objects. In the fashion industry, upcycling refers to using leftover fabrics or other items to create new products through creativity, transforming them into objects of greater value than the original.

The good news is that we, fashion lovers, can also do our part. A large part of the process for a sustainable brand comes from its creators, but we are the ones who make the final decision: whether we choose unsustainable products or products that contribute to the environmental crisis, or brands with a responsible and ethical philosophy. Companies depend on consumers, and that's why they will always be geared towards the demands and needs of the market.

Rave Review Clothes is a perfect example of a sustainable brand that uses upcycling techniques, transforming home textiles into stunning and beautiful garments that anyone would love to have in their wardrobe. Besides, who doesn't love patchwork?
Today's market demands that the textile industry be more sustainable, and we are gradually seeing new brands joining this movement and embracing this philosophy. We have many options to choose from, which means that consumerist thinking has been shifting somewhat, and we are beginning to be guided more by slow fashion brands.
Next, I'm going to mention several brands that promote sustainable and responsible fashion.
